First Time App Development
I am a student in college who just finished his sophomore year of college in pursuit of a Computer Science degree. This summer I am hoping to create a small manageable application (that I would like to be a game) hopefully to start my own portfolio. I currently have experience programming with java, c, and python and I have used Visual Studio, Netbeans and the Python IDE.
I am looking for any tips on what would be a good platform to build for and what IDE to use in order to get the attention of potential internship opportunities next year. I have highly considered developing for Android, considering the size of the current user base and the prospect of both the ouya and the gamestick being released later this summer. I have also thought about developing for Windows 8 considering the fact that it is still a relatively new and unpopulated market.
All advice is welcome, but I am still a relatively new programmer and I still have a lot to learn since I come from a university with a relatively weak Computer Science program. Thanks in advance for any responses.
